Interviews
In this section, we have 4 videos of interviews with 2 professors and 2 freshmen students at Emory. They all speak at least two languages and express their experience with learning and teaching languages. Professor Ristaino and Li shares their teaching experience and how they view right method of studying languages. All of them agree with learning languages at young ages are more effective than learning at older ages. As Professor Ristaino states that she found her child at young age learning the pronunciation more quickly and effectively. They all mention to learn a language well, it's important to expose oneself completely in that certain language environment, as they all mention in their experience that they use the certain languages they learned frequently, which improves their speaking ability. In addition, They mentions the additional ways to improve language levels, such as watching certain TV shows in that languages, reading and learning the culture behind the languages. One of them mentions a different point of view that learning two languages at young ages easily misled learners by mixing use of words from two different languages that brings him problems of communication, which is an interesting part to discover further.
